A news article caught my eye today.
Arlen Specter, senior U.S. Senator from the great state of
Well whatever, you might say. Mind, however, this is an old man…an old man who has been a Republican Senator for almost thirty years. This sort of thing just doesn’t happen out of the blue (or red).
Why is he switching parties?
Was it a sudden change of faith, a revelation from almighty God in the dreams of this 79 year old man?
Nope.
It was because pressure was being exerted by a rival Republican, a man that almost stole away Specter’s chance at his millionth Senatorial term.
Let me tell you what I think about this.
I feel that at the least, Specter should get the hint and GET THE FUCK OUT OF WASHINGTON. We have no use for dinosaurs in the age of the iPod, Blackberry and Hadron Collider.
Arlen Specter is a power-hungry fuck that wants nothing more than to “serve his country”, or what some may label fear of succumbing. Has Specter actually done anything worthwhile, really? It’s megalomaniacs like Specter why our country is teetering on the brink. This is an example of life-long politicians that do nothing but lie through their porcelain veneers and surgically-enhanced faces so that they may sell the souls of their constituency in the form of bribes from special interest groups.
Whatever happened to backbone, Mr. Specter?
I feel this move by the Senator illustrates another point…a point a great deal of this country has yet to accept. There is no true difference between the GOP and Democrats. A man of indubitable heart and conviction would never dream of switching parties, altering his views in effort of furthering himself. Unless, of course, the views of the two parties are the exact same goddamn thing. More power, more power, more power, bigger, government, more taxes, media clout, media clout, media clout.
Democrats will label this as a sign that
A two party system is bad enough. When it’s ONE party with unlimited power (we can’t even do good old checks and balances anymore!) shit gets scary.
Leads me to question…how much did they pay you, Mr. Specter?
